Softball Ireland Coaching Programme

As part of Softball Ireland's committment to the development of softball in Ireland, the Softball Ireland Coaching Programme was established in 2008. The Programme is designed to make the coaching of softball skills (both basic and advanced) available to both players and teams through a structured format.

The Programme is run by the Softball Ireland Coaching Sub Committee and consists of the following members...

John Austin - Dodder Dyamoes Softball Club

Lisa Root - Renegades Softball Club

James O'Farrell - Homers Softball Club

Pat Reddy - Renegades Softball Club

Adrian Crowe - Marlay Softball Club

The programme is our first structured coaching programme and receives financial support and commitment from the Softball Ireland Council. The programme is underpinned by the creation of a Coaching Library which is available for use by affilliated coaches and consists of coaching materials, drills, equipment and the use of our coaching knowledge database and of course access to our Tutors for advice and queries relating to coaching.

Coaching Ladder:

Incorporated within the programme is a Coaching Ladder for the on-going development of registered coaches and this involves a four level: 1, 2, 3 and 4 Certification. Registered coaches are being entered into a central database and will be encouraged to progress their training through the various certification levels.

Through the Coaching Programme, Softball Ireland will be working closely with the European Softball Federation (E.S.F) and other bodies on the further development of the programme and are fully committed to supporting all registered coaches into the future. Full details of Coach The Coach courses will be published shortly.

To facilitate members of our sport, who hold coaching qualifications in other sports, an assimilation process under NCTC guidelines allows their existing qualification to be recognised and facilitates their joining the coaching ladder at the most appropriate level.

Qualified Coaches and Current Status:

The following members are already qualified coaches either as tutors, assimilated coaches with qualifications from other sports or having successfully completed the Bronze Level Certification Coaching Course.
